the city talking: fashion, vol. 2Back
The City Talking
This is the second volume of The City Talking: Fashion magazine. Contained within its pages are stories about so many things, like fashion, but also: photography, identity, magic, reduced-fat biscuits, a pair of black Prada boots, Karl Lagerfeld, Lads’ mags and so much more.
The cover photo for this issue features Katie Eary, a menswear designer based in London. Katie is so, so bright, which is why our cover photo is so bright, as if her brightness has burst through all the pages that precede it. We spoke to Katie about her brightness, and the darkness it inhabits. That story begins on page 7.
In London, we met Karlmond Tang; a renaissance person for 2017. Our interview was fuelled by lots of beer, first at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch and then later, a vampire bar. For best results, enjoy pages 30 to 40 with your favourite hops-based beverage. Or not. This life is yours; you do the choosing! Are we still drunk? Maybe. We’ve included several of his images for you to savour in whatever state you see fit.
Also in London, we drank tea and ate biscuits with illustrator Richard Kilroy, who was wearing the equivalent of pyjamas and we were so, so glad. There is no better way to interview a stranger; loungewear should be mandatory, as well as tea and biscuits. You can read that story from page 18.
This magazine also features stories from Manchester, where we talked to the lads from Proper Mag, as well as Sheffield, the setting for our chat with stylist Helen McGuckin.
And also Leeds, which has snuck its way into many pages of this issue because we’re from there; also because lots of creatives are from there, and still live and work and create there.
This is our second issue of The City Talking: Fashion; we can’t wait for you to read it. ••
