The City Talking
This is our first A-Z issue in Manchester; it’s a chance to fill our pages with as many stories, hopes, dreams and memories as we can. Every year we speak to friends, acquaintances and strangers who we hope will become friends.
The A-Z issue always begins with a question, and this year in Manchester there were two. We wanted to know what people in Manchester had enjoyed this past year — the events, individuals and moments that made their 2015 great. We also wanted to know what they were excited about — what 2016 had promised them. We asked everyone from baristas, writers and artists to CEOs and leaders of the city’s tech community. We hope to ask even more of you next year.
Finding out that I’d been elected on to the Barista Guild of Europe Committee. I’ve been driving the barista community in Manchester for a good few years so I’m very happy to be doing the same on a European level.
Cup North has collaborated with Spin: The Cycling Festival for their inaugural event at Victoria Warehouse this May. I’m very excited about all of the bikes and coffee!
Hard & Smart
Seeing New Order at the Warehouse project in December. I had always wanted to see them and they were better than I imagined, it was a really touching and emotional gig overall, especially when they played some Joy Division songs.
There’s so much going on I don’t know what to pick! Seeing the Stone Roses is definitely in my top three, although I’d just be happy walking around in Castlefield when it’s finally sunny and warm.
